An attempt to respectfully answer two questions

1. Why did God create people to send them to hell?

2. What we experienced during the coronavirus pandemic disproves God's existence, what do you say to that?

1. Why did God create people to send them to hell?

Understanding this question

The question assumes that God created people with the purpose of torturing them in a place called hell. The question assumes that the Bible teaches this is the purpose and ultimate destination of humanity.

This is a genuine question asked by a genuinely interested person.

An apology

I apologize to the person who asked this question because the people who say that this is the purpose and goal of humanity have been misinformed and are spreading misinformation. This is a misunderstanding of the Bible. It could be a misrepresentation or even a deliberate disinformation.

A clarification

God created the world and everything in it. God is just. God is merciful.

Man and all creation were created to glorify God. This is the purpose. The destination of humanity is to be with God.

But man willingly sinned against God. Sin is rebellion against God. Since, God is a just judge he will punish man justly. This punishment is eternal.

Yet, since God is a merciful God, he wants man to be rescued from sin and his eternal punishment. He sent His Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) to die in order to pay the penalty for our sins.

We cannot pay this penalty by ourselves, or by our good works. We deserve the punishment of God.

Because of God's grace and mercy, all we have to do is believe in Jesus Christ for our sin's forgiveness and salvation; and then on remain faithful to Him. And we must be ever repentant of our indwelling sins. So we can glorify God and be with him now and even after we die.

Please read the Bible for yourself.

2. What we experienced during the coronavirus pandemic disproves God's existence, what do you say to that?

Understanding this question

Because many Christians died during the pandemic, promises found in Psalm 91, etc. are found unfulfilled and therefore God's existence is disproved.

Another apology

I apologize to the person who asked this question because whoever told them that Psalm 91 or other scripture portions are a guarantee of miracles and healings etc. is wrong.

A clarification

Physical death is not a defeat for genuine Christians, it is part of all human experience and we will all die one day; so Christians dying because of corona (or for whatever reason) cannot disprove the existence of God.

Also, dying because of diseases (including viruses) or accidents, as some would say, dying too young or dying in their prime, etc. does not necessarily have to do with the faith the person had or did not have in God.

Prophecies and promises found in the Bible cannot be applied like magical charms or chants of protection from dangers or death. In fact this kind of practice is not encouraged in the Bible.

To meditate on the Word of God (Bible) is to meditate in such a way that our lives are transformed by its teaching to glorify God, it is not a means of protection, it is not a means to gain power over death, it is not a means to gain money, etc. To meditate on God's Word is to desire to be faithful and obedient to Him in all situations of life whether we live or die, whether we become poor or rich, whether we become healthy or unhealthy, whether we are persecuted or not, whether we get physical blessing or not, etc. Faith in God has to do with us being faithful to a faithful God in all of life. Faith in God is not a guarantee that we will not face troubles in our life.

How has God been faithful? He has been more than faithful, we deserve His just judgment (because of our sins) but instead, He sent His Son to die for our sins and all we have to do is believe in His resurrected Son for our forgiveness and salvation. We deserve to experience His righteous anger but He showed his righteous grace upon us. What more can we expect? To demand more than this is not part of prayer, it is ungrateful human arrogance.

Yes, one day God will satisfy His justice fully, but today He is freely offering everyone salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Please read the Bible for yourself.
